The Internet 4.1 Notes
- computers used to be big and got smaller and smaller as time went on
- computers talk through packets
- a small piece of information that goes from one computer to another
- computers interconnected led to them exchanging packets
- packet switching - message is broken up into packets and then sent in any order (reassembled by the recipient)
- bandwidth - speed at which the packets travel (bits per second)
- speed depends on the amount of info sent
- protocols are a set of rules that both systems agree to
